[April 7, 1998] The place name search is back in a primitive form. The databse is the USGS populated places file containing about 170,000 United States cities and towns. For places elsewhere on the globe, you must use the Geographic Coordinate search below.
Note: provide only the city or town name in the query. Do not include the state.
This catalog contains records for over 300,000 maps that cataloged by the American Geographical Society. These records can be retrieved by specifying a geographic location in terms of degrees, minutes and seconds of latitude and longitude, or through a geographic name database using a using place name or zip code.
This is an experimental database and a second generation version is currently being designed and built, so your questions, comments and suggestions are encouraged!
This version of the database is built using the Apache www server linked via CGI to a PostgreSQL database.
